DataPath
Announces:
Fully-Automated, Electronic Substantiation of FSA-Eligible Items at
Walgreens
Beginning March 1, 2006, when your clients use their mySourceCard® or myResourceCard® at Walgreens, reimbursement will be automatically approved on FSA-eligible items, including over-the-counter (OTC) items. Your clients will not need to make any further substantiation! The paper-based substantiation and reimbursement process will be eliminated!
This service electronically tracks and verifies that the
items (prescription or OTC) are FSA-eligible and, if they
are, will electronically substantiate the items. If either mySourceCard® or myResourceCard® is
used, the technology will match the items and automatically approve the
transaction with no follow-up procedures.
DataPath has already established an online feature similar to this with Drugstore.com. Click here to read the press release announcing the feature.

Another First-of-a-Kind:
DataPath's Multi-Custodian Platform
DataPath once again has produced another "first-of-a-kind" with their Multi-Custodian platform for myHSAToday™ . We mentioned the multi-custodian choice in passing in our January newsletter article, "myHSAToday™ Investment Options" (describing our new myHSAToday™ Investment Program ). However, we did not stress the details or uniqueness of this feature.
With the Multi-Custodial Platform, myHSAToday™ offers a choice of custodians including large national banks, regional banks, and local banks. This choice provides greater control and choice and offers the opportunity to take advantage of different plan options, including investments.
As a Plan Service Provider (PSP) offering myHSAToday™ services, you can now establish or grow a relationship with a financial institution in your local marketplace. If you already have such a relationship, call us. We will be glad to discuss adding your financial institution as a custodian.
Being instrumental in adding a local financial institution can be very profitable for the PSP. In addition to creating a special relationship with the financial institution, the PSP will have the advantage of marketing HSAs with a local custodian. Just another way for PSPs using DataPath products to differentiate themselves in the marketplace!

eDocAmerica:
Excellent myRSC.com Resource!
Since DataPath formed a partnership with eDocAmerica we have had nothing but good comments from everyone. eDocAmerica, the largest third-party provider of physician-consumer online communications, provides myRSC.com participants with direct on-line access to medical services. This is just one more way DataPath provides to differentiate the Plan Service Provider in the marketplace.
eDocAmerica offers a different model in web-based communications between physicians and consumers. Other services just offer email systems for doctors to exchange messages with their patients. eDocAmerica's model provides Board-certified physicians through third-party sponsors such as employers, associations and insurance companies. Participants in myRSC.com have unlimited access to these physicians without any co-pay. The physicians are guaranteed to answer inquiries within 24 hours.

HSAs: Plan Service Providers ARE Needed!
Recently in BenefitNews.com, Leah Carlson Shepherd wrote an article on Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) titled "HSAs perplex some workers: HSA users may need assistance with taxes". In this article, Shepherd said what so many others have been saying, that employees need to be educated about HSAs before participating.
Lack of HSA education leads to low enrollment because employees do not understand the money-saving aspects of HSAs. Once they are enrolled, they often fail to follow up with necessary paperwork, and those in the second year of HSA enrollment do not understand what tax forms are needed.

DataPath's Featured Employee:
Aaron D. DerGazarian
Each month, this article will feature one of DataPath's staff, letting you know more about what the employee does both at DataPath and at home. We want our employees to be more than just a voice on the phone.
DataPath's Featured Employee of the Month for February is Aaron DerGazarian, the
manager of our Client Services department. His role at DataPath is to
train, direct, and advise our Customer Service Representatives
in providing
service
to our clients. He also works with clients to resolve higher-end situations
and problems.
When asked what the best things and the most challenging parts of his
work were, Aaron responded, "The best part is working with clients all
over the country, but the most challenging is switching from task to
task
to task, with each task having completely different details and problems."

A Little of This,
A Little of That
As you know, Pres. Bush has been promoting HSAs, both in the State of the Union address and at appearances throughout the country. Medicalnewstoday.com has an article summarizing what the President's comments and some of the responses to his HSA promotion. (As you can expect, many of the responses are split on party lines.) This article is very informative because of its links to various related newspaper articles. Click here to read the article.
In IRS Chief Couns. Adv. 200603025 (Oct. 14, 2005), the IRS concluded
that costs of gender reassignment surgery can't be deducted as
medical expenses. Click
