Our Officers
John J. Robbins, Sr.
Founder / Past President and CEO
July 31, 1946 - February 22, 2011
John J. Robbins, Sr. was a true visionary.
He was widely regarded as a leader in the field of consumer directed health care and guided DataPath to many groundbreaking firsts in the plan service provider marketplace. He had an innate ability to see the big picture and subsequently direct creation of the detailed systems and services necessary to deliver a solution to the market. Above all, John sincerely valued the relationships that served as the foundation of the company. His passion and larger-than-life personality are affectionately remembered by all.
In what started in his own basement, John guided the company to become a principal provider of high-quality consumer directed health care solutions and services with more than 90 employees under his leadership. When business computing was still in its infancy, John saw the need to take the complex and vague government regulations and build administrative systems for the emergent industry. In that basement in Little Rock, Ark., one of the first Section 125 administration software programs was developed, marking the first of many milestones in the 25+ year journey to create and offer industry-leading provider solutions to the employee benefit delivery market.
After earning a BSBA in Accounting from the University of Arkansas, a BA in Finance and Economics from the University of Memphis, and an MBA from the University of Hawaii, John became a Certified Public Accountant, and shortly thereafter founded DataPath, Inc. on October 1, 1984 to provide software and web-based solutions to the employee benefits industry.
John was a member of several state and national organizations, including the Arkansas Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Business Society, Employers Council on Flexible Compensation (ECFC), of which he was made a member of the board of directors in 2007, Society of Professional Benefit Administrators (SPBA), and the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA).
John passed away February 22, 2011 after a battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and left a far-reaching legacy. We, at DataPath, strive to maintain his lasting vision and live out John's mission of "the continual discovery of our true selves through grace as we endeavor to know, love and serve God."
