Section 125 Accounts in Danger Again DataPath sources from the Hill confirmed yesterday that the employer exclusion for Section 125’s was in danger of being repealed. In a closed door meeting, Democratic members of the House Ways and Means Committee released information that pointed to consideration of eliminating the employer exclusion. The Congressional Budget Office scored the taxing of the employer exclusion to generate 68-70 billion dollars over 10 years. Last month, the CBO projected the cost of healthcare reform to exceed one trillion dollars. Because of this staggering number Representatives will be looking for revenue where ever they can find it. In response, the Blue Dog Coalition led by Rep. Mike Ross (AR) called for the Ways and Means Committee to slow the process down and allow for feedback from their districts before the bill is brought to a vote. Blue Dog Coalition - Click here Blue Dog Members - Click here DataPath encourages you to please keep applying the pressure on your Congressmen, especially members of the Ways and Means Committee. John Robbins Sr., Ben Robbins and James Cheek will be traveling to Washington next week to meet with members of the House of Representatives to stress the importance of retaining CDHC. Please email, call or write your representatives and tell them that if they take away the employer exclusion, they will be removing the incentive to offer your preferred health coverage.
